Marriage

Our newly refurbished and RIBA award winning church is an ideal setting for your wedding.

Initial enquiries regarding your marriage can be made through the Parish Office.

Please fill our Marriage Information Form. The Parish Office will be in touch very soon after receiving your enquiry.

Things to know

  • Enquiries should be no less than six months before the proposed marriage date.

  • Dates can only be confirmed when you both meet with the priest.

  • In order to celebrate the Sacrament of Matrimony in the Catholic Church, at least one of you must be a Catholic.

  • Your wedding should be the culmination of much prayer and reflection and to help you with this, we ask that you attend a Marriage Course.  We recommend contacting Marriage Care who organise courses Preparing Together across London.

  • It is not possible to have a civil marriage (Registry Office) performed prior to the Church wedding unless by special arrangements with the church.

  • If you have a situation that you would prefer to discuss with a priest prior to writing, the Parish Office will be happy to arrange an appointment over the phone.

  • Music can be provided by our Parish organists and choir. Please inform the Parish Office at least four months before the date of your ceremony.  Please note that only sacred music can be used at weddings in our church.

  • You can employ any photographer you wish and they will be allowed only at designated places in the church. The use of video cameras is permitted with the same conditions and without additional lighting.

Essential Documents to provide, dated within 6 months of your wedding day

  • A letter from your local parish priest confirming that he has no objection to you being married in this church

  • A Declaration of Freedom to Marry for each party

  • A current baptismal certificate from the church where you were baptised

  • A Marriage Course certificate

  • A £100 cheque, addressed to "St Augustine's Church", which we split between the Diocese of Westminster and the Augustinian friars. If you are a UK tax-payer, this should be gift-aided.

Order of Service

You may choose to have a Nuptial Mass or a Wedding Service without the celebration of the Eucharist.

You can discuss this with the priest when you meet with him.

There is a choice of readings and music to be made in either case:
