Today Jesus opens the ears of a deaf man. At a deeper level there’s a play on the fact that those who can hear are not listening or taking in Jesus’ message, whereas this deaf man can ‘hear’ his message and take it to heart. When are we deaf or blind to the word or presence of God in our lives? And when do we hear or see God? As many children and students begin a new term the Church turns its focus to Catholic education. At the 10:30am Family Mass Mary Kelliher, headteacher of St Augustine’s Primary School, will talk to us about her understanding of what our education offers and her own personal role within that. We can reflect on what Catholic education’s role can be in the lives of those being educated. Ultimately good eduction opens us up to hearing and seeing God and His work in our world.
‘I Can Do That! Sunday’
Next Weekend Do you want to make a difference in our Church community? Is there something you think you can help with and get involved in? Next Sunday is “I Can Do That! Sunday” where you’ll have the opportunity to come to the parish centre after mass and visit all the stalls showing all the various parish groups and activities we have on offer. You can get more information and even sign up to be apart of one of the groups. Your parish needs you! We will also be serving refreshments including bacon rolls for the hungry! The stalls are open after the 9am, 10:30am and 12:15pm masses. Fr Gianni Notarianni O.S.A. Parish Priest
