Our Two Feet

St Augustine once said “Love God and love your neighbour. These are the two feet with which we walk towards the Kingdom of God”. These two commandments are the polar opposite to the first two sins in the Bible; the book of Genesis starts with Adam and Eve essentially wanting to take the place of God. Then Cain kills his brother, Abel. So when Jesus is asked in today’s gospel what the key to life is, he answers with the two commandments above. They are an antidote to the tendencies found within the human condition and illustrated by these stories in Genesis.

Austin Forum Sacred Art Series

The series continues with a video and sound installation by Nina Danino. “Sorelle Povere di Santa Chiara (Poor Clare Sisters).” The installation reveals the human side of the group of Italian nuns. A male urban community of Augustinians ‘hosts’ a female, rural, religious community in their city church.
